The University Club of Palo Alto

Two men approached our group and, rather arrogantly rather than politely, informed us that we could not play there because it was a members-only club. We understood and respected that. However, they continued to harass us and used profanity, which was completely inappropriate. As members, they should uphold high standards of professionalism and decorum—standards they clearly failed to maintain. We are a group of professionals and deserve to be treated with respect, not spoken to or treated as if we were beneath them. Profanity, harassment and sheer rudeness doesn’t sound like a membership id like.

This is a great tennis, swim, and fitness club for the family. You can easily reserve court times and play in the evenings (with its 8 LED-lighted courts). It has both tennis courts and designated pickleball courts. A great place to learn to play pickleball and make new friends! The pool is beautiful, newly renovated, and perfect for lap swimming. The TRX fitness class is really, really good. Easily accessible from Foothill Expressway, yet hidden and tucked away in a quiet corner. Super nice, friendly, down-to-earth members. It's a nice spacious and quiet place to host events, too.

The best private swim and racquet club in Silicon Valley! 8 tennis courts, 4 permanent pickleball courts (all with lights until 11 PM), and a rebuilt pool as of 2025. Plus a newly refurbished fitness room with personal trainers, on site food & beverage service, and club organized social events all year round. Easily accessible from 280 and Foothill Expressway - it’s truly a hidden gem.

We've been members at University Club for over 15 years. It started as a place for our kids to take tennis and swim lessons. Once they left the nest, it really became the hangout spot for my husband and me. I frequently use the tennis courts and the gym. I've taken pickleball lessons and play weekly Mah Jong. And I eat lunch at the "grill" once a week with my friends. Ignore the (very) few negative reviews. Our general manager Robyn has worked hard to make this member-owned club a thriving hub for our diverse community. If you are looking for friendly, down-to-earth people who want to lead an active lifestyle, this non-clubby club has it all.

We love the University Club and have been members for 23 years! We play tennis and swim; play bridge and attend the incredible socials!
