The Hub Sports Club - Alameda

Pulled up to The Hub Sports Club in Alameda and honestly… this place is solid. Came through with my guy Nate to check it out, get some runs in, and shoot a little content. Right away you can tell this place is well run. The energy is welcoming, the staff actually cares, and the community vibe is real — competitive but still friendly. Pickleball-wise, it’s stacked. 8 indoor courts that are clean, permanent, and play great, plus 7 outdoor courts if you want fresh air. Runs are organized, people know how to play, and they’re always hosting tournaments and competitive events, which I really appreciate as someone who plays a lot. Outside of pickleball, the gym setup is legit. Full cardio and strength equipment, unlimited group classes like yoga, barre, and more. Locker rooms are clean, with showers, sauna, and steam room — clutch after long sessions. Pro shop is fully stocked and the staff is always down to help with gear or questions without being pushy. Small thing but funny — they even added a ping pong table, which kinda says everything about the vibe here. Functional, fun, and community-first. If you’re in the Bay and serious about pickleball, fitness, or just want a spot that’s run right with good people, The Hub Alameda is definitely worth checking out. I’ll be back for sure.
I’ve been a member for over a year now, and it’s a great facility in an amazing location—walking distance to food and a brewery! The HUB offers quality courts, a nice (and never crowded) gym, fun fitness classes, and a relaxing sauna. The main improvements I’d love to see are offering fresh towels, keeping the sauna and showers cleaner, and fixing the outdoor pickleball lights.
This is an A+ venue. If you want to be able to play indoors or outdoors in Alameda, you can’t beat this facility. There are 8 courts inside and 7 courts outside, which are smartly placed on the side of the building that doesn’t get as much wind. The nice thing about the courts are they are separated by skill level. Each court has a rating on them with a paddle rack. In addition, they have some challenge courts where the winners stay on. $135 per month or $25 for drop in play for non-members. Some might see $135 per month costly, but if you are someone who lives near Alameda, loves the sport and plays multiple times a week…what is $135?
I love the Alameda HUB. Every time I go in the staff greets me as family and are always open to any issues I may have. In addition, they have excellent Pickleball instructors such as Marcia and Barry. I’ve taken some of the scheduled workouts with weights and those instructors re wonderful too. I’m looking forward to try Yoga as well. It’s really a very wonderful facility and everyone I’ve met there is kind and helpful. I can’t recommend the HUB enough!!
This review is for the pickleball courts by a non-member. Paid $35 for the day pass. Played indoors (they also have outdoor courts) 4 pm to 10 pm on a Tuesday. Courts marked by skill level, drop-in/open play format, 4-on/4-off or 2-on/2-off (winners stay) depending on how many paddles are waiting in the paddle rack. Skill levels from 3.0s to 4.0+s, with a good amount of 3.5s, and not a lot of beginners *for that night*. People were generally cool; had no problems finding a game, and didn't wait long between games either. All courts high quality, with permanent nets and center straps. Full gym and sauna included in the day pass but I didn't use them. Gym has everything a serious weightlifter would need; also plenty of cardio machines. Plenty of lockers but bring your own lock. Also bring your own towel and toiletries if using the showers/sauna. Plenty of parking outside. If I lived in Alameda, this would be my pickleball hangout AND gym and I'd go multiple times a week for both activities.
