Oakbrook Park

The recent changes at Oakbrook Park have really ruined the neighborhood park. The addition of dirt hills and mounds have now turned the park into a magnet for ATVs, motorized scooters, and motorbikes. It's become so overwhelming that it's no longer a peaceful place to relax or enjoy nature. To make it worse, there are a lot of unleashed dogs running around, which makes it quite uncomfortable for families with small children and the addition to the bathroom at the park is beginning to attract homeless to congregate and leave shopping carts and trash over night.
The Large Oak Trees are the feature of this park. Large sized park with four park tables and four park benches. It also has a full soccer field and play structure. No Bathrooms. They are doing a survey for park improvements. Skate park would be nice and the park supports open space to have one. Also a covered area would be nice. We do live in the Northwest. For the amount of space I would say this is one of the more under utilized parks in the area.
If I could give it a 3.75 I would. It's super cool, squishy turf, two disabled swings, lots of climbing things, tons of slides, even a little spot for you get kids to slide. But it's PACKED at all times and zero shade. Hopefully I'll be able to upgrade my review as it gets older
Unusually large for a neighborhood park. Lots of shady trees, a paved loop path, nature play area and picnic tables are available for your enjoyment.
The City decided to drastically change the park against the will of the entire neighborhood. The city wants more people to drive to the park from around the area, but without street improvements or parking. It sounds nice but is ruining the neighborhood, especially by adding bathrooms which will attract the wrong kind of people. The quaint, quiet, peaceful park is gone forever.
