North Park Pickleball Courts

The courts’s surafce is asphalt/tarmac very similar to road surface. This is ok for beginners and some social pickup play but once you get a bit more serious with game you need a proper surface like most other pickleball courts in the area such as mccandless and cranberry. The adjacent tennis courts have the same problem. This is really not a great surface to play on but the tennis and pickleball are generally in good condition with great lights for nigh time. Pity the lights are automatically on whether there are people present or not. I have witnessed many a time the courts totally empty but all lights are on. This seems like a big waste. For a social and public place in this area of the northern suburbs one would expect a higher quality surface and mechanism to control lights better. Its still a great addition to North Park thanks to the foresight of Mr Babcock many years ago.
