Six new dedicated courts with a roof and lights have a couple of issues. First, the natural sunlight overwhelms the supplemental electric lights making play less than ideal. Opaque curtains could provide a relatively inexpensive solution to the problem. Second, when it rains moderately. some of the downspouts cause water and dirt to come on to the courts because of the adjacent grade level. A bioretention area could possibly alleviate this problem. In spite of the negatives the courts are being used with play-time-scheduler helping with communication and coordination.

There are these two people that were just rude and mean that were guarding the court. I understand trying to help the community in a way. Me and my boyfriend the other day came to the park and checked out the court early in the morning and my goodness people leave their trash everywhere and pickleballs EVERYWHERE. So me and my boyfriend decided to organize the balls and clean up other people’s trash. Anyways after finally making time and remembering to get paddles and pickleballs. Tonight me and my boyfriend decided to come to the court to FINALLY play pickleball, we saw the lights on and thought we saw two people play in the court so of course we assumed it was ok to go in. Right before we entered a guy tells us to leave because it’s closed which we were thankful for and said sorry in the beginning. But then oh my goodness an old lady comes yelling across the court telling us to leave and yelled at us to read the sign which we already read when the guy told us to leave. And then this is where it just ticks me off.. we were leaving back to our car the guy also follows us and assumes we don’t have paddles and just judging us because we are young and think we’re gonna do something bad on the court??? And I look back at him with my netted see through bag that has paddles and pickle balls in it. Seriously if you are mad that we didn’t read the sign before we almost entered at least look for sure if we had paddles or not before saying something. I was holding the bag on the side of me facing directly towards the guy and I’m wearing a bright white cardigan that makes the medium size bag so noticeable. Anyways, we were fine at first with the guy until he decided to push it. Then again we are responsible and at fault for not reading the sign before entering I understand. But no need to do all that. We ain’t gonna do no harm. All this was happening around 9pm. So many grumpy old people and Karens here… that just do too much. But oh well at least we know not to go at certain times, and will remember the hours of when it’s open. God bless them though, camping out in the cold to protect the court too.
