I’ve been attending the Wednesday 8:00 AM yoga class at 348 E 54th St for at least seven years, and it has always been very consistent and well run. Terry is a very dedicated and responsible instructor. She explains each movement clearly, leads the class from beginning to end, and is attentive to students of different levels. One detail that really stands out is that toward the end of each class, she uses essential oils she prepares herself to give everyone a brief relaxation massage. From time to time, she also shares her travel experiences and personal reflections with us via email, which adds a very warm and personal touch. She genuinely enjoys being a yoga teacher, and that passion clearly shows in her teaching. We are truly grateful for her many years of commitment and dedication.
We have been members for over 3 years. It’s a wonderful facility that is well managed and a true gem in our community. Safe, inclusive, and diverse.
i went to swim on a friday. facilities are ok, i honestly dont have too much experience swimming at rec centers though so i dont have too much to compare with. its a bit dirty and i didnt feel super safe leaving my stuff in lockers given all the signs to put locks on. the staff seem organized / stern though
Poorly conserved. The gym has very old equipment with missing parts on certain machines. The bathroom has a broken faucet that has been releasing water non-stop for about 1 week now. The pool is cold and there was a cockroach in my locker recently.
Disappointing experience here. My son had been in learn to swim class for weeks when one day a random employee told him that he wasn’t allowed in the pool. We are from Harlem and denying access to my young child resonated very deeply with me. There is a long history of denying people from Harlem access to public resources in New York City and apparently this is still true at this location.
