It’s a shame but I have to give this park one star. Great outdoor park, played here 4 times and never really had a bad experience until yesterday. An older woman came up to my friends and I, we all payed to play mind you, and was being extremely rude and told us we needed to get off so the next people could play. We asked the next people and they said they didn’t want to play. Then when this older woman finished she goes and tells the guy who worked there to kick us off. My friends and I’s experience with this gentleman was very poor as my friends tried to ask him a question as he kicked us off he rudely walked away and said “ i’ll be over there “. I have seen this gentleman working once or twice and he is always completely unfriendly. I just moved to Reston and went through a crazy time with my apartment and just wanted to play some pickleball and have a nice time which ended up being ruined. What ever happened to being kind? Just thought it was crazy that these people had no shame in being rude to strangers. Don’t want to go back but also there’s not many options for outdoor pickleball or indoor that’s not expensive. Honorable mention to the woman as well who made snarky comments at my partner to hurry and that “it’s nice to hurry” while shooing us away.
went to this place consistently over the course of a few weeks, we actually did enjoy the court, people mind their business and they have a good paddle line system. BUT YOU NEED A PASS. We did not know this until we came today, and a guy sitting outside the courts let us know in the most rude and condescending way. We will never be returning. He needs a lesson in common courtesy and kindness. He states he will be working until 11PM. The interaction was horrible. The dude hates his job, needs to be fired or find another job.
Unfortunately, it’s not available to visitors. The web snapshot suggestion is that it’s not a private place, but more public. It looks like a park when you pull it up online. It should be highlighted, members only. It not part of the park system, but since most area courts we visit around the US are clearly designated private or public, the reference to a member card was interesting. There is no simple way to get a day pass or talk to anyone. We came through town for a wedding. We had 4 generations playing at the playground, had brought 2 paddles and thought we’d spent 10 minutes on the court. We were told to leave. It was a hard, fast NO by the gatekeeper. I don’t expect to return, but hope for a gentler way to allow visitors to play a short bit on open courts.
Decent amount of tennis-turned-pickleball courts, adequate parking and large pool. You need the Reston association pass to access it. There’s also a water fountain to refill your bottles which is handy
Whoever the dude was that checks for your membership was a complete jerk. I came from out of town and he solved me away. Will never come back. And why do you have to pay 500 a year to play at a public park??? Ridiculous
